The 2018 documentary McQueen looks at the short but extraordinary life and career or fashion designer Alexander McQueen through interviews and archival footage. 


The Drawings of Yves Saint Laurent

Each Saturday in July drop in for a documentary exploring the world of high fashion through the work of one designer, with special introductions by Dallas fashion experts. The 2017 documentary The Drawings of Yves Saint Laurent explores the artistic process of the legendary designer through archival video and preparatory fashion sketches.

Frédéric Tcheng's 2015 documentary Dior and I provides an exclusive look inside the Dior atelier as new artistic director Raf Simons designs his first haute couture collection. 



Saturday, July 20, 3:00 p.m.

For more than 25 years, the print-driven designs of Belgian fashion designer Dries Van Noten have been a must-see at Paris fashion week. For the first time, he allowed a filmmaker to shadow him for a year as he created four new collections. The result is a fascinating and intimate look into the creative process of an artist who has endeavored to remain separate from the fashion industrial complex.

Albert Maysles' 2015 documentary Iris follows Iris Apfel, who has had a decades-long presence in the New York fashion scene for her flamboyant looks and big personality. The film and its namesake remind us to do what we love and celebrate what makes us unique in the way we dress and live. 


Film Screening: Caravaggio

Thursday, August 22, 7:00 p.m.

Derek Jarman’s 1986 film Caravaggio is a portrait of the artist as he looks back on his life, work, and love affairs. Shot in a dramatic chiaroscuro style evocative of Caravaggio’s paintings, the film explores the darker sides of the artist's character and the underbelly of Rome in the late Renaissance. This film is rated R (1986, 93 min.).
